| norfolk is a little bit further than i usually travel but might give it a go from reading the post on here sounds like you have some good beaches bit different from the southend area, cant make end of the month as im on a family holiday in devon, will definantly take fishing gear there in hope for some bass. when is the next meet after that? |

Hi mate
the next norfolk meet hasn`t been arranged yet, watch this space
If the one at the end of the month is anything like the one we had in june it should be great
Some of us are having a meet at chapel point on wednesday, hopefully it will lead to more at that venue too
I also have to travel a fair distance to the coast, lincs is 160 miles,3.5hrs norfolk is about the same distance and time,it`s well worth the distance as even if the fishing isn`t up to much the company is awesome!
Another post will be put on east coast forum when the next meet is arranged, hopefully you`ll be able to join us,in the meantime, tight lines and good luck for your holiday ventures
Regards Darren |

| hi and welcome. i have been fishing canvey since last year and have kept a log of species and catches etc. have caught around 170 fish on the island since first of january (albeit only 4 sizeable!!) and have had some great fun. main marks for me are lobster smack (to the barrells if poss), the point, park lane (bad snagging!!) behind canvey football club or southend side of thorney bay. i tend to favour the smack. up untill may i averaged ten fish per trip.............then...wait for it.........in last 6 trips only landed three fish. so i am waiting for the bass lol. i have so far beached bass, pout, codling, whiting, rockling, eel, dab, flounder and a couple of very nice eatable dover sole!! and of course three hundred weight of assorted pesky crabs!!!!!!! hope all this helps. canvey has a sea angling club (of which i am not a member) which is alledgedly very good and can be found online under canvey sea angling club i think. good luck let me know if you coming down i might just give you a butchers!!! |

out from the lobster smack steps there is a grion/ rock jetty...... at the end of the jetty is three big steel barrels adjacent to the pier, i prefer to cast to them. just watch out at high tide lol as two mins behind the big boats come the big waves!!!
bait wise, rag, lug(if i can get it as local shops not doing it during the week?) squid, peeler and sometimes mackeral. tried spinning a couple of times this year so far no good but will keep trying. hope this helps |
