Fished the high tide this afternoon,caught 3 small bass and 1 small flounder all on rag,the mack got ignored.
Not a sniff on feathers or spinners.
I was fishing by the old railway supports in glorious sunshine albeit very windy there!
No records set but a good day. |

| Way too much colour in the water for lures at the moment - if we get settled weather later in the month and plenty of sunshine then the mud will get overgrown by thin brown weed and that generally allows the water to clear. But at the mo with these stiff breezes the fish haven't got a hope of seeing the lure. |

Yeah I must admit it did look a bit cloudy! Its a nice venue and hopefully it will clear up as there are obviously small bass about.
Has anyone had much luck with flatties round this area? |

There are lots about. I haven't fished for Flounders up there for years but we used to get quite a few on Peeler crab, keeping the bait on the move often helps.
You might pick up a Bass or two on surface lures even in the dirty water but I wouldn't put money on it. You need to wait until you can see a lure 12 to 24 inches down before you have a chance with the lures so it will be a short spinning season up there.
If you are after better fish try large bottom fished baits at night and don't be afraid to fish close in. |

| I think I will try an evening/night tide up there. Whereabouts did you fish the creek mudlark? I fished the area by the old railway and I struggled to hold bottom when the tide turned. |

| Yeap it was bud stayed for a couple of hours 3 Bass, no keepers, still enjoyed it....lol |

On the point by the remains of the old swingbridge - I haven't fished it for years now, I tend to fish further up or down the river as its a bit more productive. On the bigger tides you need 4 or 5 oz to hold out.
I shan't bother for a week or so now as the rainwater will be filling the river again after the monsoon we had today. |
