Hi i just got my first rod I live in chepstow can any one give me some tips.

I have had a go from the slipway at beachley using mackerel from tesco as bait with out any luck. Is this a good spot? confused

Don't use that Tesco rubbish mate, get some blast frozen mackerel from a tackle shop. Also, what size hooks are you using? A lot of folk use hooks which are far too large when they start, size 1 or 1/0 is fine to start with.

welcome to the forum! big grin big grin and when fishing keep it as simple as you can when starting out just a hook and a bait is all you need

Cheers 4 the tips i will get to the tackle shop.
also does any one know if the slipway at beachley is a good spot ?
I picked there as i thought it would be safe.

if its the type of slipway im thinkin of i wouldnt fish it as there willl be boats launched there everyday and all the fish will be scared off .

try fishing a pier or an estuary!!

Cool will try a sparkplug next time and have a recky to find a better spot further down the estuary.
