I'm with Eccles on the Salt Bass & Flattie - unbelievable rods at silly prices. Try & find the "Pre-XT" models on clearance as I picked up the Bass for £38 and the Flattie for £33. They're both have Fuji rings & reel seats and superb actions. I fished the Bass most of last year, off the rocks with 4oz and was able to put my bait in the same swim consistently with a 6000 fixed spool & little effort, which accounted for 24 Turbot & Plaice.
This year I've gone lighter with the Flattie & 3oz with an Abu RCN60 Multiplier - an absolutely superb combination which allows me to match the distance attained with the Bass/Fixed spool - effortless fishing. This combo just feels so in tune - I've also found it a great feathers/spinning rod with a 5000 size fixed spool. Don't try to push the flattie to hard though 3oz + small baits are it's limit - the blank is very small in diameter and the spigot area can show signs of stress if you try to ask too much of it.
I don't know what changes the XT range introduced though - can anybody comment on the differences ?
