Hello fellow fisherman. Can anyone please tell me what line I should be using at Stokes Bay, Gosport. I will be moving to the area soon and planning to take up sea fishing again and has my line is some 5-6 years old and needs replacing, so what is a good line and what weight (LB) of line should I get. Thank you happy

i'd post in the south coast forum and get some locals to reply , but normaly 15-20lb + a shock leader for beach fishing ( not that i tend to use the leader ) . not fished stokes bay for years so cant help much.

Yes line of 15lb should be fine, my personal preference would be red ice as I have found it to be very strong and well priced happy.
Also being coloured red its easy to spot while night fishing.
cheers

hi, stokes bay is shingle into sand so 15-20lb will be fine cos it won't be rubbing on stones etc too much. leader strength will depend on what weight you will be throwing around - rough ratio is 10lb of leader to every oz of weight so if you use 5oz lead, you would use a 50-60 + leader to be safe.

I have no preference yet to make of line but don't go for cheap 'bargain' line as 9/10 it will fail on you.

good luck and get those catch reports up on here
