For me 80lb would be just a little bit heavy I would recommend 60lb the make doesnt really matter as long as the quality is good and that comes from the type of ground you fish.

I use 80lb line for my leaders because it only takes a small nick to weaken line quite considerably. I also sometimes use 7oz leads when fishing very windy conditions. I have never snapped the 80lb line, but I have snapped 60lb. I am not a super human caster, but damaged 60lb line can soon become 30lb line. I always try and keep an eye on the condition of my line during a session, but it is easy to miss small amounts of damage. It's all about safety, I really don't want to injure or kill someone. When I'm fishing close in I will happily go much lighter.

Some time ago I purchased a bulk spool 2kilo of 70lb line and this is what I use for all my rig traces and never exceed 6oz weight.

Also for light boat fishing I use 40llb for my traces as above 2kilo bulk spool. Cheers keith big grin big grin

60lb suffix zippy, 5.99 100mtrs clear, has lasted me over a year and used as shockleader.

but this kind of question you may as well "whats your favourite food"?

greased weasel (oily badger) is ok,but i dont rate it personally, only as a last resort.

trial and error is a good brand though happy
