I am at present reading, "sea fishing properly explained"by Ian Ball.
It is a simple book that covers the basics in a simple way, perfect for me.
In the book he talks about live baits recovered from low tide like mussels, razor fish, limpets etc.
As i am determined to catch on the stretch of beach at the bottom of my road (Worthing, West Sussex) i wondered what everybody thinks.
He also mentions "pilchard oil" for extra scent.
By the way love the site, best sea fishing forum with a vast wealth of info .
Good job. applause

Not sure what the bottoms like at worthing would guess its shingle to sand with possible silt/mud areas like most of the local coast, collecting bait from the venue you fish will give you the advantage as thats what the fish are natrually feeding on so give it a go, also when you're there at low tide survey the area slight depressions sand bars how far the groynes go out that sort of thing anything that will hold fish then pick a land mark beach huts/groyne number that sort of thing then you can return and fish that spot,
Sea anglers rigs and baits is also a great read for the beginner.
