i took my 7yr old daughter for her first fishing trip on the malibu 2 last sunday to stackpole quay in search of some mackeral.
we met up with some members from another forum and launched from the quay @ about 9.15
it started off a bit lumpy with some strong northerly winds but that didnt seem to affect kirsten who was quite happy to sit there chucking her feathers about while i frantically tried to keep us on course.
i didnt get any pics to start with as i was too busy paddling away from the rocks while kirsten feathered for mackeral.

the first fish went to kirsten which was a nice sized mackeral on her 5.6ft spinning rod which bent over double. unfortunately i lost the fish while unhooking (slimy bugger sad )

we carried on feathering for another hour or 2 with kirsten catching a further 5 mackeral with a triple shot at 1 point which really tested her rod to the limit.

we landed on Baraundle beach for a bit of lunch around 11.30

by about 12.30 the wind had eased to almost nothing so we headed back out.

we trolled some feathers back towards the quay stopping off to exchange catch reports (and a bit of baosting from kirsten)
Image

we then decided to try trolling some atificial eels in the hope of catching a few pollack but nothing was biting
so we decided to anchor up to 1 of the pot bouys and cast out a bait in the hope of catching something but again after about an hour of sitting there nothing came of it.

by now it was getting on 3 o'clock so we decided to head out a bit further to catch up with the others who had decided to target tope a bit further out with the fresh mackeral and kirsten decided to chuck her feathers out for 1 last troll and literally within seconds of the feathers hitting the water she had another double shot of mackeral (its starting to get a bit annoying now angry )
Image

anyway we all then decided to call it a day and head in to gut our catches.
Image

final count for us was 14 mackeral
kirsten= 8
me= 6
with the others catching plenty of dogfish mackeral and 1 gurnard but no tope
so i was outfished by my 7 yr old daughter crying angry

she cant wait to go again but i think i might leave her at home next time devil

thx again to ever1 who turned up and we'll definitely have to do it again some time
Phill

Sorry I couldnt make it, an early Sunday morning for someone in the licenced trade is a bit assumptive!

A bit more notice is best for me, maybe a bit more than the day before!

My Daughter cant wait to go in the Kayak...but its my boat!
