I went in the launch office & said, is it still 2 to launch a canoe mate? He replied no its free this year. Now being a local boy I umed & arrd wever or not it was free or three, so had to go back in & ask him. Canoes are free this year mate, result 2 saved.
Paddled out to near benfleet creek, dropped anchor. Two rods, 3 hook flappers, one with rag & the other lug. Only one fish in 5 hours, a schoolie around the pound mark. Loads of weed & crabs.
I asked the geezer at the hut on the way in about the flying bass, he found the whole thing very amusing ; -) I told him to probably expect some more kayak fisher types, I bet he wishes it was still 2 a pop now.

I only took pictures of Hadleigh castle & I'm guessing you don't really want to see that!

Thanks for the report Mick, seems that the Thames is pretty quiet at the moment. Maybe you should try further afield ?

The Missus and I managed to get out off Hythe two weeks ago (we have a two person Kayak) and there were loads of fish. In two hours we must have had about 50 small whiting, five dogfish, several Dabs, a flounder and two Mackeral. We were both using two up, one down rigs with Mackeral and squid as bait. The baits were being hit almost as soon as they went in. Everything (apart from the Mackies) went back but it was great fun anyway.
