Toying with the idea of fitting one of these Breakaway Cannon Thumb Button things to my beach rod

Is there a "proper" method of permanently fitting them, the insulation tape method looks a little "Heath Robinson" at best happy

I used whipping thread which can be purchased from any decent tackle shop at no great cost. It is a wise idea to use the same colour as the thread used on your rod that fastens the rings on your rod. when you have finished use some super glue over the whippings, this keeps the thread together without gluing it to the rod, finishing off with several coats of varnish when the glue has dried.

You will find that your timing will be out when casting but you will soon learn to compensate and you will have more confidence in putting more power into your casting. Good luck

Have you checked that the device will fit on your rod? I have got one rod that is fitted with one, but it won't fit on my other rod because of the butt grip.
Once you get used to them they are very good.

Thanks guys

just in the thinking stage at the moment and will have to see if it will fit first.

Should have thought of using whipping thread but the images I have seen looked like there might some sort of "permanent" attachment with it.

It was the winter casting that had made me think this might be a good idea

Thanks again
Philipe
