Went out to a North Clare rock mark for the last 2 hours of the flood this afternoon, raining all day and a strong wind, which was thankfully offshore.
Tried a few surface lures for bass but the conditions where not good so we switched to shallow diving "Yozori's. Between three of us we took 4 bass all between 2-3 lb before the weather got too bad and made fishing dangerous.
I fish on a bit on the North Antrim coast, and to be honest the fishing is the worst I've seen in my 5 years sea fishing.
I generally fish Downhill and usually land loads of Dab with the odd Plaice or Turbot - not a lot caught this year. This is usually good Bass water - same story nothing!
My last journey out took me to Red Bay near the village of Glenariff or Waterfoot. 4 hours of fishing before and after high tide brought a few nips on the the rag and two small Plaice landed. I dunno, it must be something to do with the low atmospheric pressure over the country this might be driving the fish out to sea????
I was talking to a guy in Portrush who owns a tackle shop and he said the same thing of Portrush, few fish being landed, no mackerel being caught just a few pollack and coal fish.
Murlough bay is supposed to be fishing well, but I havent got there yet, think its mainly dog fish being caught there.
The picture is no better on the river fishing scene. My local river is fishing terrible.
So much for global warming bringing in the warmer weather, if it rains much more think we are gonna have to build an ark.
