Have just loaded my f/s reels with 25lb of Ultima F1, in one word "fantastic!!!!! "its 0.40mm,but looks like some 15lb ive used in the past,it does what it says on the tin, yeah pricey,my local t/shop does 4oz spools for 11,every penny well spent !!!

more than happy, over the moon (it will cast that far lol)

Do you use a shockleader with it ?, is it on a multiplier or a fixed spool ? what type of cast are you using with it ? ,what size weight are you using ?

cheers JOLI at wits' end - New!

I've just got some myself in the 15lb, the diameter is actually lower than stated. Possibly because its pre-stretched and has very little give in it. I would say it feels a little bit wiry and probably has a low abbrasion resistance. On the positives it should cast well and show bites up at range with so little stretchl!.

I've got the 15lb as some of the marks I fish benefit from range fishing 150 yards or more. 60lb shock seems pretty sufficient although I have broken 2 leaders in the last couple of weeks. Trying to hit marks in heavy on shore winds!! lol

My line of choice if range is not such an issue is 15lb bullet XT (carp fishing mono) its very friendly smooth, reliable and is literally bullet proof!!

One way to set the knot ie the 'Albright ' is after you have pulled it into shape and tightened it..............flick the kettle on and when it boils hold the knot over the spout in the steam and pull again...always keeping the tension on, remove from the steam flow and still keeping the tension on let it cool for about 30 secs and it should be that much tighter...............OOOHHHH and be careful dont scald yourself whew!

bargie the f1 is black in colour, bit awkward to see at night though,i dont use an allbright knot with it,i use the (not sure whats its called) overhand knot on the shock the a 6-7 turn grinner knot on the mainline,i use this as its easy to tie on a cold wet windy beach, and never had one slip/part on me,wouldnt know about using it on tapered shock though, but personally if the tapered end is the same diameter as your mainline i would use a full blood knot (which is designed to tie two lines of the same diameter).hope thats been of some use to you.
also i have found with the f1 that the abrasion resistance isnt as good as it claims, what i do is strip a few yrds off before retying a shockleader.

hope ive been of some use lol

The other colour available is 'Titanium' (light grey / clear) its the one I've got and is more visible.

The 15lb is .32 in dia which is very fine but seems pretty robust. It casts extremely well, ideal as Im a Fixed Spool user. (very little friction)

might have to look into that keith,my black stuff is a pain to see at night, just a thought though does the colour affect the performance at all,as i always see black as the natural colour for anything made from polymers etc.

Performance isn't compromised by the colour, It was only the fact that I saw some in my local tackle shop that prompted my reply as as you know I use braid whenever possible.
Cheers

Andy, are you still using it, I tried a few spools and found it wirey and very weak on knot strength, i dont know if I got a bad batch but I ended up stripping it and going back to red ice??
