Penn 525 mag

Want to cast 300yds off the beach? Its possible with this reel and the right rod. The 525 mag is a great reel, designed with long distance casting in mind. The mag adjustment is simple to use, either a slide or a thumb screw depending on model. Holds 275yds of 15lb test on a light weight frame. The spool runs completely free, make your cast, and just listen and feel the spool scream as you cast further than you ever cast before. A tough built reel with a 6:1 gear ratio to bring in the largest fish. Mechanicly sound, with 6 ball bearings make this a tough durable smooth reel. I have owned one of these reels for just under a year, and I have not been disapointed. I use this reel with a 11ft rod, I bait fish, and plug with it. Getting the fish others on my beach can not reach.

Having had 2 of these reels for a year now, I have unearthed a major problem with these reels which is major cracks appearing on the left hand plate , near the adjuster. I have had to replace both end plates which fortunatly come under the warranty, Penn are fully aware of the problem and have acknowledged this is a flaw, my advice to al mag 525 owners is keep your eyes open for cracks in the end plates, Apart fom this issue the reels are superp and i have smashed my casting record by big yards. Rick

Used ABU mag multipliers until now, but bought a 525 Mag Extra with the idea for using it for uptiding too, lovely reel, easy to use and also like the fact that cant knock it back into gear by knocking the handle during a cast, as i use the reel at the bottom of the rod.
