My first outing as a disabled angler

Hello everyone, we`re just about to head out to the Lincs coast, Huttoft to be precise, its my first fishing trip since becoming disabled and my first crack at any shore fishing in over 30 years. We`re going to make a trip of it and will be doing 4 or 5 days there depending on how I cope and being a...

That`s very kind of you sir, we do have the blue badge if that makes any difference to them. They say no overnight parking....... If you`re fishing a night tide but leave when you`ve done for the night I take it that`s ok? I take it as you are fishing during the day that day time sessions are produc...

I`ve just been having a look at Spurn head on Google earth/maps, I see that there is a road down to the old RNLI buildings. It does however state that the road is "restrticted". As I`m disabled it looked like a likely spot for me to wet a line. I can only walk a few yards can anyone clarify for me t...

Many thanks Flatiefanatic, I`ve seen that used some years ago as a stop and had forgotten all about it..... you mean to wrap around the main line (as a coil) I think. I`ll give that one a whirl. In defense though I`ve used the really soft crimps and I`ve an electricians crimping tool that has an adj...

I was going to be heading for Huttoft at the weekend coming but we`ve had some of those nice envelopes drop through the door.......you know the sort, begging letters from tne gas, electric, water board lol So it`s postponed to the following week. Probably going to get there Fri afternoon till Sun ev...

Many thanks Daz, yes I see what you mean now. I`ve put a crimp and a bead about 6" before the swivel that the snood attatches to so in effect the main force of the cast is carried by the 50lb mono. I hope I don`t come across as a proper muppet, I`m trying to get everything as right as I can before I...

Thanks for that flattiefanatic. The questions will keep coming from me I`m afraid, at least for a little while. I`ve 30 years exp. when it comes to Carp fishing but zilch from the beach. I refer back to the post by wannacatch1 (Daz) he states that when using a pulley rig for hounds he uses 50lb (I p...

Coming from a Carp fishing background that started in the early 80`s I can remember when the Bolt rig first hit the scene. Prior to the rise of electronic alarms and the use of the afore mentioned Bolt rig it was an un-avoidable fact that if you intended to fish through the night then it was necessa...

Many thanks Daz, you can`t get much simpler than a straight running ledger eh. Talking about distance, is there any rule of thumb at the venues I`ve outlined? I`m still capable of hitting 100yds+ but would that be putting me past the fish. I know its a bit like asking "how long`s a piece of string" ...

Rigs for this time of year..Chapel/Cleethorpes/Huttoft/beach

As a newbie to beach fishing I`d like some advice please. I`m in the process of tying a load of rigs up. As I have mentioned in another post I`m disabled and somewhat limited as to where I`m going to fish. I intend to get as many hours in as possible this coming year before the damned surgeons get h...

Many thanks to Royboy for the offer of help/advice around the Hull area. I`ve been trawling the site looking for more info on Huttoft and from what info I have found I`m gonna give that one a go next weekend probably, however I`d be very keen to hear of other spots that I could manage to fish. One t...

Depends on how far you call "local". If you`re a session angler and intend to do a couple of days or more I don`t suppose 20 miles`ish would be to far would it? There`s a place I know and fished many times. It`s a reasonable sized reservoir just outside Grantham called Denton Res and strangely it`s ...

Hi everyone, thanks for taking time to reply. I`m a bit of a plonker am I not!!! According to the small amount of info I`ve managed to gleam from the internet a...
