Loads of species can be caught in the area.

No problem Ian....the west coast is not an area i fish at all so i wont be able to help you out much.....the solway I hear is good for bass and there are many rock marks for decent pollack as well but dont know about any further up as i think most guys tend to travel east. never once did i suggest that this site is "Inferior" to any other in anything i have wrote and i am certainley not "boosting" WSF in any way. I am only trying to help the guy by pointing him in the direction of a site where he will get the information he wants rather than go through with the rigmar...

What I have found is that a lot of guys up here just dont use forums to report about catches or marks and any that do use a far more popular site than this one which I will refrain from mentioning. the programmes are ok for watching as i watch them over and over. As for advice you dont really get much advice on them for anglers just the occasional little bit about rigs if you are lucky. Skegness isnt my area but a clean beach would be the best option until you get used to the casting and retre...

I agree a good point Hatter.
It depends on where you are fishing as i use heavy stiff rods from the rocks but always lighter gear from the beaches even if it is for cod.
