When casting distance is important as booms can drasticallly cut down you distance, I use them for boat fishing and pier fishing. I am an ex Salfordian myself and used to cycle from Eccles to Blackpool every weekend to fish the north Pier before it collapsed and that was in summer and winter. Cheer...

Brid South Pier 16.11.10

I fished Brid South Pier, the sun was shining and sea was calm with hardly any breeze.. Fished from about 10am till 3.30ish, had loads of bites but only managed to catch 1 good size Whiting (about 12oz) using baby squid.. My legs and back are sore now (Arthritis) but I refuse to let my condition rul...

I'm sure you are spot on Roy, but as I don't drive the bus is my only mode of transport. The 121 bus travels between Hull and Scarborough, however I have only ventured to Brid as far a fishing is concerned..

I know what you mean about fishing on your own, but i'm no use to anyone! Don't have transport and have arthritis so Brid is the only place I can fish really (i'm 12 miles away in Driffield)... I thought Spurn would have fished better than that, but i guess you never know what's going to come out an...
