the norweigen fjords have varying layers of salinity depending on wether its summer or winter and they have no problems catching lots of cod,i feel the spratt invasion has more of an impact than the salinity of the water... It was a good day out sport was slow my one cod,two codling all came on the ebb biggest 6lb 4.There was small shoal fish showing up in mid water all the way from the nore sands to blyth sands and leigh middle in thirty foot of water and deeper.But there wasnt any gulls diving behind the ferrys/tanke...

Nearer 20 hp would be better against strong tides and swells.But swapping inboards can get costly and as you have two auxilary outboards if one of them is 6 or 8hp then fire that up as well i know its only a temporary measure but it may help

I would recommend a second hand minnkota over any other manufacture.I have owned one for 8years and the only problem i have had was in june when the speed controller burnt out new one was sourced from canada it has been used on average 4hrs a everyday 4 twenty weeks each year .Its a 30lb thrust mode...

I use sundridge sas mark 5 which is brilliant .One thing to remember that a flotation suit is only a bouyancy aid and if you fall in face first it will not turn you over.There is a couple of suits on the market which are lifejackets but they are a lot dearer. :-B

What about livebaiting for the bigger cod ,what size livebait would you use only asking because cabrats cod had the remains of a 7inch whiting inside it

I was looking at wilson flyers but found "peggy" moored 5mins from my house and with a inboard on zdrive so was happy :D

Lets hope theres loads more cod to come :)
