Do guys still use multipliers?

Post by mentalextra »

Been noticing so many guys using fixed spools these days. They seem to be able to cope with beach/estuary and pier fishing. Is it just old lags like me that are still carrying a torch for multipliers, or are there any good reasons to move over to fixed spool.

Oh, and Merry Christmas!

Im still using Penn Reels, a 140 Squider, 150 Surfmaster and a 160 Beachmaster. They all work well with my 12 foot rods but I have had some fluffing up with a continental 16 foot type rod.
So I am thinking of getting a Fixed Spool Reel for using on the 16', anyone have any recommendations for a suitable inexpensive reel?

Dave.
