What Baits for Spurn

Post by Philipe »

Had a few trips to Spurn now, mostly at Kilnsea end.

Been using mackerel strip and had a few small cod.

Just wondered what everyone else is using and what they are are attracting

spurn bait

Post by cabman »

If you've been catching a few small cod I'm switching to mackeral. All I've caught this year is whiting, whiting and more whiting. All on lug, lug and squid tip or lug and mackeral tip.

I'll second that,i wouldn't give a damn if i never saw another whiting,my freezer is full of fishcakes, everyone caught on lug, fresh lug will catch you cod (when they come out to play) every day of the week you can coctail with anything you like,"but"lug is the bait make no mistake so put plenty on and keep your finger's crossed...good luck;)

have fished spurn many times and tried lots of combinations of bait but the one that i find the best is Lug Worm as its the natural food for the area. best results is for Bass in the summer you just have to find the right spot.

Thanks for that guys... I'm thinking lug worms is the popular choice

I guess that means getting up a little earlier and doing some digging :)
