Mackerel or Garfish?

Hey all wen't fishing today and sorry that i only have the one pic and putting my greasy lips all over the poor thing, but could not tell if it was a young Mackerel or a Garfish. Caught with Feathers.

NO WAY! i did think sand eel and then thought nah! they are small LOL and did not think you could catch them with Feathers :-O

yup i went to google and typed in sand eel, that's what it is LOL oh well, better than nothing i suppose haha!

Damn good bait though. Normally caught on micro traces but feathers will take the larger ones.

i would of kept it if i knew what it was at the time, but i threw it back cause i did not want to kill some thing i knew nothing about.

I wish more people were like you, putting fish back is the only way to protect our sport unless keeping for the table. Too many keep undersized fish and fish that are just within the limits.

Absolutely right rabbi to many people killing fish under size
However having said that if a fish is in size limits its fine
The problem is not all people can catch well in size fish like yourself .
I was the same until royboy showed me how to fish properly
Targeting a species and using the correct bait and rigs rather than just using a 2 hook flappper that any small fish will take.
