Thumb protector?

I have seen a strip of pond liner advocated as a thumb protector for use with a multiplier but I don't want anything attached to the rod that is flapping about. With arthritis in the base of my thumbs, I find it increasingly difficult to clamp down on the spool when casting, so anything that gives me better grip would be advantageous.

What do other folk on here use? Some kind of slip-on tubular thumb protector would be my choice, but what materials have you found best?

do not use bike innertube as that marks your line the best thing is the rubber hand grip off a cricket bat you can buy it from sports shops

You can buy a device that acts as a trigger for casting. It clamps on to you rod and dont flap about. Its called a Slide lock reel seat, might be more beneficial for you fella

FOR fixed spool a finger stroll is the bee knees and for multiplier cricket bat rubber taped on facing down is perfect

For fixed spool there is the Thumbutton or theCannon,both made by Breakaway tackle,just tape onto your rod. Hope this is of some help,Mick

I use the thumb off a pair of rubber gloves and slip that on.
