F/S baitrunner

Post by geordiesandman » Sat Dec 11, 2010 9:14 am

i bought a faladen carp rod and reel over the summer for macky bashing and have found it great for flatfish too.

the reel is a 'freespool' baitrunner type, which i have been playig with on other rods and love the way it all works.

Santa's going to get me a better quality one for xmas.

Although this is going to be used mainly for piers and esturies, how well will it fare in the surf?

has anyone got any experience or advice on this?

Cheers

Graham

I have been using a Mitchell carp rod for years both in calm and moderate conditions, the bite indication is second to none and you can put a nice bend in the tip when tightening the line. If there is a bit of a surf running I just higher the rod on the tripod. It will cope with weights up to 5oz although I tend to use 4oz grip weights. Wind on the tip can be a bit of a problem but you will soon learn to differentiate the difference between wind and a bite.

This brings me to the subject of :D >:) >:) >:) Manic Muppet (I know I went camping with him) as he suffers from wind :D :D >:) >:) >:) >:) >:)
