..just wondering if anybody has comments on the Breakaway Cannon, or similar devices......or the best method of line trapping for fixed spool distance casting ?

Many Thanks

I have used th cannon and I can assure you it is fantastic for the confidence it gives you for a distance cast.

Not used the Cannon myself, but have the lighter "thumbutton" devices on several of my rods and am very pleased with how they perform. The Cannon, though more expensive ,looks a much more robust bit of kit if you are using it a lot.
The thumbuttons have given me more confidence with my casting without the worry of damage to my forefinger!!
Tight lines,Mick :D :D :D
