DAIWA EMCAST SPORT ECS 6000-AB any good for beach fishing?

Post by Cambridge_Seafisher » Thu Nov 24, 2011 4:21 pm

Hi, Hope some people can help with this.

I am thinking of buying the reel mentioned above, but all the results I see on the web mention it is for carp fishing, although in the product write up it mentions about designed to wear well against sea water!

I am looking to use it mainly on the beach.

Anyone had any experience with it?

Looks like an ok reel. If its a good beachcasting reel your looking for i would go with the Penn Captiva 2 8000. Good price reel and does the job great ;)

I am quite a fan of Daiwa FS reels as I have found them pretty rugged and reliable but I think you would be better off with one of the Opus series which are really tagetted at the sea angling market. They also have deeper skirts to the spools which IMO reduces the risk of line getting trapped underneath - can be important at night when you are less likely to notice.

Looks ideal for flattie bashing with a Mitchell Carp rod and a 4 oz weight.
Cheers

Is this ok with 20lb line as it mentions 15lb in the product info. Sorry for lack of knowledge.
