It all depends on whether they are feeding or not. They are scavengers though so will take any bait. But beware though if the doggies are around that means most other fish are not............Colin

i love catching doggies, and have found that a fresh fillet of mack on a two hook flapper or running ledger is hard to beat, especially from rougher ground. have heard that whole sandeel often picks out the bigger fish but haven't tried this myself. jonny :D :D :D

ive caught doggies on all different baits. mack, lug, whiting, squid, razor and mixed sea food. cant ever remember getting one on rag, sandeel or crab. most baits will work tho if they are feeding.
we were on a pier just before christmas and had about 20 of them. we wre there for an hour without a bite then had them all within about 90mins. then didnt get another before we left.
