Dry Lug

Post by ciderfisher »

If you've ever wondered what to do with the lug you have left over at the end of the day. Try drying it. ;)

What I usually do is lay it out on tin foil for a few days to dry. Then I roll the foil up with the lug it and pop it in my tackle box. I've found the ideal place to do this is in the attic, for two main reasons, firstly, it smells a bit and my wife doesn't particularly like the smell of old lug X( , and secondly, you are less likely to loose it to little animals who think it's a snack. X(

It's a pretty good bait, it's tough and can be cast out at Mach 3 without any problem, and it can be stored for ages. It's especially good if you don't want to waste fresh lug on whiting or pouting but want the occasional sport whilest waiting for a nice cod to come along. ;;)

With all this talk about bait shortage, try earthworms for estuary fishing. It works as some of my best flatties have fallen for this :D :D :D :D :D
