Can i use sardines as bait? might be a stupid question but i'm new to sea fishing lol

Sardines/ Cornish Pilchards

I have used them with my mate to some effect drring the winter months.. They also make a good ground bait mix due to there high oil content.. They are actually a very sucessfull bait for a large number of fish, however they are very soft on the hook so make sure you use plenty of bait elastic to bind them on!
