Are they defo Peeler Crab?
I only ever use frozen peeler crab and they are not available to buy this season yet, fresh or frozen unless someone has some left over form last year.
Did you get them off a mate or a tackle shop?
As for fishing with them, great for Cod, Bass, Smuts, Doggies and Thornies but not really a bait that is used much in March.
You have to put them on with baiting elastic, I always use a whole crab but there is no need too and as for hooks depends what species you targeting but this time of year it will be Cod really so a Pennel Pulley Rig or Dropper Rig with 4/0 hooks.
Google Peeler Crab and you will find lot's of info on them, how to use them, strip them, de-lung them etc
