Fishing Black Sands Porthmadog

Post by notaclue »

Going on holiday next week and the wife has said I can take the gear. Does anyone know anything about fishing black sands near Porthmadog

This is a very popular area, if the weather is good it will be crowded. If it's the place I'm thinking of you can actually drive onto the beach (They charge!). If the sun is shinning there will be 1,000's there!! It's a massive expanse of sand & there has to be fish there? Not seen a lot of bait about though?

Although I never swim in it (the sea's for fishing in not going in!) it looks very shallow & the tide rips in quickly.

Perhaps try at night when all the swimmers have gone, but it will take some casting as it is shallow?

Nice place, for holidays & it looks very safe? There are loads of places to fish all around Porth Madoc. Try the fishing takle shop up the road in Pwhelli for advice? (No I'm not connected)

Best of luck, I'm around there in August so let me know how you get on.

:(( Did not get the chance to go fishing the surf was running to strong 10 to 12 tear waves, but will defiantly be going up that neck of the woods again!
