Thanks
It looks like I wont need one, im planning on hooking up a small fishing boat with a trailer onto a estate car.
If I read correctly the boat and trailer cannot weigh more than the car and both the boat, trailer and car cannot weight more than 3.5 tonnes combined.. I think I got that in a breath lol

I think you will be fine.
Your full car licence allows your to tow a trailer (unbraked) with a load up to 750kg (inc. trailer weight). It is also possible to tow more than 750kg so long as:
1. The combined weight of the car and trailer doesn't exceed 3.5 tonnes.
and
2. The weight of the trailer doesn't exceed the towing limit of the car.
Legally if a trailer can take more than 750kg, it will have some form of brakes fitted normally over-run brakes, I think. If the trailer doesn't have brakes of any sort, you should be ok.
If in doubt, find out about the weight limits of the trailer and car.(copied from license inquiries)
