Post by flattiefanatic »

Hello guys just got my first boat 18ft dory with a 60hp engine. I want to start fishing the harbours to start. Any advice on tactics and locations of would be great. The sole should be in soon and any other spiecies would be great. Im looking at portsmouth, langstone and chichester harbours to start.

Many thanks in advance :D

Most important is to know that bass fishing from boats in the harbours is illegal and anyone caught keeping bass is liable to be heavily fined. Don't think it won't happen either as the fisheries officers have been quite active recently. This is why most folk take their boats out into the Solent to fish the wrecks, the reefs and places like Bramble Bank rather than the harbours.

Hi,

i hav e found recently that southampton water has been good for bass. manily on the netley side just past the esso terminal.

Failing that there is always No Mans land fort for both bass and mackeral.

good luck
