first time!

Post by geordiesandman »

me and a mate are looking at sorting our first boart trip out of the tyne, wear or maybe blyth.
as we are new to this side of angling, we havent got a clue what to take.
i presume a decent skipper will show us what to do and how to do it?
any advice or recomendations appreciated.

cheers

graham

Hi Graham, the best advice i can give is to ask the skipper when you book the trip. He can tell you what the target species are, and best baits and rigs etc to catch them. If you dont have the tackle, you can most likely hire all you need from the skipper. Good luck when you go, and have a good time, boat fishing is a lot easier than the beach. :D

This time of the year I would sugest a 3 hook flapper with 2/0 tp 3/0 hooks plus a selection of weights ranging from 5 to 8oz none grip weights. Heavier weights shouldn't be needed unless a strong tidal run or very deep water, (check with the skipper).
All types of bait work well from boats.
Cheers
